Rules & Guidelines

General Rules and Guidelines:

The general rule is based on our Biblical scripture from Luke 6:31 “Do to others as you would have them do to you”. Therefore, we expect mutual respect to each others. No foul languages are allowed any time during the meeting.

WeChat Rules:

WeChat group called “CBCGB TTOF” is established to publish information about the church and fellowship activities, schedule changes, COVID related news, registration for attendance and aslo discussions on topics related to Christianity and other table tennis activities. Posting videos, articles and discussions shall be consistent with the church’s declaration of faith.

The following types of content are prohibited:

  1. Malicious slander and personal attack content
  2. Content that slanders the Christian faith
  3. Spread heresy and other cult religious content
  4. Content that renders and incites violence, pornography and racial discrimination.

Covid-19 Pandemic Rules:

Members participating in this fellowship actitivies shall abide by the fellowship’s epidemic prevention regulations:

  1. Confirm that you have no COVID/cold symptoms such as cough, high temperature, body aches, etc.
  2. Encourage wearing masks for children and high-risk groups of people with weakened immune systems
  3. Wash/disinfect your hands frequently during activities.

Traffic Rules:

Reduce your speed if you are driving along the Old Spring Road as you enter the church. Especially on winter snowy days, this road becomes very small, narrow and slippery and extra caution is needed for safety reason, and for a good witness to the neighbors who have complained about the speeding many times.

Parking Rules:

Do not park along the fire lane (the entrance drive-way to church parking lot). Do not park on reserved spots for handicapped.  Do not park along the circle near the side-entrance door. Please drive all the way to the three main parking lots and park your cars in one of them. There are plenty of parking space for our group.

For detail information, please check out the map in church parking.

Safety and Sanitaion Rules:

During winter weather, please take off your street shoes or snow boots to keep the floor and the game balls clean from dust and sand.

Courts : Please keep the area clean and tidy, and dispose of your own trash. Do not leave garbage behind for others to clean up. Please  collect and properly dispose of your own empty mineral water plastic bottles. No running is allowed near the players while the game is in progress.

Restroom : Special attention is required for the restroom, as it is located on the lower level and the toilet paper should not be excessive. Please use water to clean the toilet bowl thoroughly and dispose of any excess paper used for cleaning the seat in nearby trash cans. After using the restroom, everyone must check whether it is clogged.

Sinks : The hand washing sink in the restroom should also be kept clean, and water should not be splashed all over the place. Please take the initiative to wipe the surface clean after use.

Game Rules and Table Etiquettes:

There are ten Table Tennis tables; one table used as robot station in a semi-private room B1, two tables for children and beginners in the room B2, four tables in the middle dining hall for competition games and three tables next to elevator for practice.

Players shall start the match after warming up for 5 minutes. The match is 11-point score in best-of-five. The winner takes the stage and the loser steps off. The winner is also asked to step down after winning two games in a row.

You are required to register the table and wait to play. Players waiting to enter the game register their names in order on the table registration board, and play in the order of registration. Erase your own name when you go on stage. Do not play on the practice tables after registering your name (unless there are vacant tables on the practice tables). Maximum 30 minutes allowed on the pratice tables. When necessary, the practice tables can be temporarily declared as the competition table. If more people are waiting for the tables, please consider playing double matches.

Children/beginners have priority to use the two tables in B2 the small room inside. Robot station in B1 is reserved for coaching and pratice especially for new comers.

On very busy and overcrowed days exceeding limit:

Please be courteous and mindful of the amount of time you are occupying the table.
For the practice tables, players should take turns every 10 minutes.
For the practice room with the robot station, please also limit your practice to 10 minutes and remember to collect the balls from the ground and return them to the machine after practice.

For the competition area, in order to reduce the waiting time with long waiting line, we could improve it by the following changes:
1) When the number of applicants exceeds limit, all competition tables will adopt a best-of-three rounds system during the time period from 7:30 to 9:00 that night.
2)Encourage to play doubles games on table #5 and #6.

Children/beginners have priority to use the two tables in B2 the small room inside. Robot station in B1 is reserved for coaching and pratice especially for new comers.

Robot Station Rules:

Robot  station could accommodate up to 5 or 6 players with each player limited to either 5 or 10 minutes. If you are the next player waiting in the line, please help picking up the balls from the floor and feed them into the robot bucket.

Since the robot is used mostly for training the beginners, we prefer a fixed position of the robot head (either forehand or backhand). Do not rotate the robot head, change the speed or the spin. If you don’t know how to operate the robot, please contact one of the coordinator. If you change the setting of the robot (e.g. under spin or side spin), you must put it back into the normal position (which is the top spin).

We suggest you to have partners to take turns between each other, one collecting the balls into the robot bucket, while you are hitting against the robot, and vice versa.

Heating/Electricity Usage Guidelines:

You are encouraged to have pre-game stretch out and exercises to warm up your body before jumping onto the ping pang tables. Once you are warm up, we encourage you NOT to turn on any heat thermostat. This is one way to make you exercise harder and, in the other way, we save the cost of heating for the church.

Turn off all lights (heat) when the meeting is done.

Weekly Logistics of Church Basement:

Monday 7:30pm – TTOF members clean out the basement moving all dining tables/chairs used on Sunday lunch and setting up table tennis tables throughout.

Wednesday 7:30pm – At the open, sweep the floor but no need to move any tables. At the close, move all tables back into storage room and leave the floor empty for Friday youth activity.

Friday 7:00pm – AWANA and YOUTH activities usually require empty basement floor.

Saturday 5:00pm – At the open, sweep the floor, and set up all table tennis tables back in all rooms. At the close, empty all table tennis tables and set up the dining tables in the middle hall.

Sunday 9:30am – Sunday school  (11:00-11:15am) may use room B3 for class room. The Kitchen Ministry uses the dining tables for serving lunch at 12:30pm.

The following documents on how to set up the tables and chairs become obsolete after 2020 Pandemic:

Setting up Room B1

Setting up Room B2

Setting up Room B3

Setting up Dining Room

Setting up Middle Elevator Room

Please make sure no chairs or tables blocking the doors of the Elevator Machine Room and other Utility Rooms near the elevator. We have received several complaints in the past when the service/repair men could not enter these rooms in emergency case.

Church Properties:

Since we are operating table tennis activity within a church basement, we shall cherish other church properties used by other church groups, such as musical instruments, sound equipment, books, and toys, and (last but not the least) chairs and dining tables.

No children are allowed to enter the Junior Chapel where musical instruments are located, unless being instructed. Please take best effort to maintain and protect these properties from being abused or broken.

We are consuming, on average, a box of balls (144 balls) over a month period.  We are receiving reports from several church members on Sunday that lots of loose balls are left around the rooms. Please take additional time and effort to collect the table tennis balls that are left behind after each meeting.

Waiver of Liability and Release:
We no longer require signing the form “Waiver of Liability and Release”.
